Spotlight on: "Mystic River"

There is something to be said about feeling music and being able to flow with it. You know someone is truly happy...or drunk, when they are twirling and Mystic River is the type of band that can get a crowd twirling. I'm not sure what song it was that got me twirling, but this band made me an instant fan. When Mystic River goes out on stage things heat up pretty ...

Spotlight on, "Local's Tavern"

Local’s tavern is a little slice of musical heaven hidden away on market street in Wilmington, NC. It’s a great place to stop after work and blow off a little steam, but if live music is what you crave then definitely check them out on the weekends. I suggest you get there early though because most nights they draw ...

Often when you hear someone say, “This is going to be a real train wreck”, you tend to think that something terrible is about to happen, but in the case of Kenny Reeves and his soulful southern brothers that is certainly not the case. I had the chance to hear Kenny and his band Train wreck on two separate occasions now and found this middle aged cover band from Wilmington, NC to be a true Cape Fear treasure. The interaction between the crowd and the band is phenomenal. Kenny a...

"The Cure" cover band recreates an era

The purpose of a tribute band is to let a new generation experience the sights and sounds of the past, a moment in time that the original artist either can't or will not give a present day audience. If you were not able to experience a “The Cure” concert in the 1980's, you can now re-live one of the most exciting and influential acts of the decade by attending a performance by The Cured – The 1980's “The Cure” Experience.

The Cured is a Southe...

"Deep South Rock bar review"(Raliegh, NC)

Posted by rhonedesigns on April 22, 2012 at 6:20 PM Comments comments (0)

Deep South The Bar is definitely your quintessential dive bar and I think they are proud of that fact. It's small, red in decor and reminds me of a garage.

This bar may be off the beaten path a bit compared to say the establishments on Glenwood South and Fayetteville Street in DTR, but it is actually very convenient to the Raleigh downtown amphitheater and makes for a great spot for an after show beer or three.

The most interesting thing ...
